Established in 1854 by the East India Company as a summer retreat for its troops and bureaucrats, the town was named after Lord Dalhousie who was the Governor-General of India at that time. Dalhousie is built on and around five hills. It is located on the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range of the Himalayas.
Dalhousie is a quite hill station with little night life, best suited for people who want to de-stress, like the quite serene atmosphere and for honeymooners ,ideal for long walks picnics and treks. Not recommended for people who want discos,malls and mutiplexes.While there is plenty to do ,see and experience dalhousie exuberates an old world charm and seems like it hasnt quite caught up with the rest of the world yet.
