Himatnagar or Himmatnagar is a town having a municipality in Sabarkantha district in the Indian state of Gujarat.
The name literally means the "Town of Courage". The town is situated on the bank of the river Hathmati. Himatnagar was named after the King Himmat Singh. There are two palaces in the town of the King Himmat Singh. Motipura, Mehtapura, Mahavirnagar, Pologround are major areas, Navratri, Diwali, Ramzan and Uttrayan are the biggest festivals of the town. It is also believed that the "Agnihotri Shala" was established near Himatnagar during the time of Mahabharata.Himmatnagar is also famous for Asia's best Horse Training Centre, as well as it is a Historical City of North Gujarat.
Himatnagar town is, in size and character, between a city and a village. The town is known for its unique tasting Dal-Bati and Pani-Puri.Himatnagar Public Library and Clocktower at night of Swarnim Gujarat Event.The town contains several movie theaters and shopping complexes as well as an amusement park.
Himatnagar is also home to many Hindu sects and temples including Sai Temple, Jalaram Temple, Panchdev Temple, Mahakali Temple, Harshhidhmata Temple, Swaminaryan Temple, Ganpathi Temple, Gayatri Temple.
